About Me

Jack Gibbons: JACK GIBBONS, English-born American classical pianist and composer, was born in 1962, began performing in public at the age of 10, and at 20 won First Prize in the Newport International Pianoforte Competition. Since then he has established a reputation as one of his generation's finest pianists through his award-winning recordings and his concerts around the world. In 1990 he gave the first of what have become annual all-Gershwin programs to a packed Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. A year later he was invited to New York to meet members of Gershwin's family, including Gershwin's sister Frances Godowsky. In 1994 he gave his New York debut and is now a frequent visitor to Carnegie Hall. Jack Gibbons' award-winning "Authentic Gershwin" recordings have been described in the media as "a unique testimony to Gershwin's genius" while his acclaimed recording of Alkan's infamous Op.39 Études was described by Gramophone as “among the most exhilarating feats of pianism I’ve heard on disc”. During his convalescence from a life threatening car accident in 2001 Jack began composing. Gibbons’ music to date includes over 50 songs and 50 solo piano works, works for choir, orchestra, etc.
